Controlled Opposition or Infighting Among "Health Freedom" fighters? Part 1
Can we tame our egos, put our differences aside and fight for each other, for freedom for all of us?
(I’d written this as one blog but decided to separate it into several blogs, as it was way too long. Most people don’t read lengthy blogs, so… This is Part 1.)
I’m a HUGE fan of freedom.
In fact, I belong to a “freedom junkies” group! Some people will try to stereotype me as a “right winger” because of it.
I find that hilarious considering that I was a Bernie Sanders supporter who defected from the democratic party (and ultimately from supporting Sanders) because it was not truly “liberal left,” though it continues to pretend to be, and I am still registered as a Green Party voter…
But go ahead. Make my day. Call me a “right-winger.”
Because those labels—right vs. left, liberal vs. conservative—don’t mean anything anymore.
Freedom is nonpartisan. The truth is nonpartisan. I’ve designed some t-shirts that say that, if you’re interested… Haha!
Anyhow, I’m intrigued by the infighting that’s occurring within this “health freedom” movement.
I also have some disagreements. Early on, I believe it was in 2020, I was perturbed by some “freedom” fighters who sued King Cuomo because they wanted the right, the freedom, to kick out tenants who were unable to pay their rent due to the scamdemic.
Yes, many people lost their jobs. I know because I was one of them. I waited three months to obtain unemployment. It was very difficult to get the unemployment benefits. While it is true that the benefits were good for several months, I am sure that many people received no benefits at all as it was very difficult to obtain them. And those wonderful pandemic unemployment benefits ended abruptly in 2021, leaving many people out in the cold, literally. In fact, some jobs were eliminated completely, and not everyone was able to bounce back from losing their jobs.
Also many people were frightened by the media messages telling them there was a dangerous, deadly virus (we now know that Covid, if it does exist, was less harmful than the flu) and were traumatized. How many people were afraid to go back to work? How many people developed mental illnesses, addictions or other problems? How many people committed suicide or acts of violence due to the stress?
Yet some landlords were more concerned about themselves and their own personal gain. Instead of finding ways to work with their tenants to fight this tyranny, they decided to assist the tyrants by finding a way to throw out their tenants on the streets. How many people ended up homeless because of these so-called “freedom fighters” who were fighting for their own personal freedom and putting themselves and their own personal gain first while neglecting the greater good?
I am not naming names here for a reason. I do not want to cause any more infighting within this movement. Freedom is everything. “Live free or die” is New Hampshire’s motto, and I support that. Without freedom, what is the point in our being alive? What kind of life can we possibly have? But I want freedom for everyone—not just myself—as long as other people are not seeking freedom to harm others, of course.
I do not name names because I want to be diplomatic here. Intelligent, critical thinkers are going to disagree on many things. We are good at asking questions, at criticizing, so our challenge is to learn how to get along with each other, to cooperate, in spite of our differences. Can we do that? I am not so sure.
